Evaluation of a general model for multimodal unsaturated soil hydraulic properties

چکیده
Many soils and other porous media exhibit dual- or multi-porosity type features. In a previous study (Seki et al., 2022) we presented multimodal water retention closed-form hydraulic conductivity equations for such media. The objective of this is to show that the proposed are practically useful. Specifically, dual-BC (Brooks Corey)-CH (common head) (DBC), dual-VG (van Genuchten)-CH (DVC), KO (Kosugi)$_1$BC$_2$-CH (KBC) models were evaluated broad range soil types. three showed good agreement with measured data over wide pressure heads. Results obtained by first optimizing parameters then saturated (K_s) two (p, q) r) in general equation. Although conventionally tortuosity factor p optimized (q, fixed, sensitivity analyses optimization (p+r, qr) required models. For 20 from UNSODA database, average $R^2$ log (hydraulic conductivity) was highest (0.985) KBC model r=1 (Ks, p, q). This result almost equivalent (0.973) DVC q=1 r); both higher than widely used Peters (0.956) when a, $\omega$). useful practical applications while mathematically being simple consistent.

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
Unsaturated hydraulic conductivity function based on a soil fragmentation process
We present a new two-parameter expression for relative hydraulic conductivity (RHC) of partially saturated soils. It is based on the premise of Assouline et al. [1998] that soil structures evolve from a uniform random fragmentation process. This assumption allows us to derive hydraulic properties of soils (water retention curves and unsaturated hydraulic conductivity) from primary properties, s...

Ill-posedness in general is affected Inverse methods are increasingly used to estimate the hydraulic by nonoptimal experimental design, poor measurement properties of unsaturated soils. The method generally uses a weighted least-squares approach in which numerically simulated data are fitted quality, errors in the assu...
متن کاملSensitivity Analysis of Hydraulic Parameters in the Simulation of Unsaturated Soil Water Dynamics
Soil water content is one of the most important parameters for estimating irrigation frequency and providing the plant’s water requirement. Since measurement of soil water content is both expensive and time consuming, water movement models are used to estimate these values. In this study, LEACHW model was used to estimate soil water content for two “dry” (20-29 Aug) and “wet” (1-6 Jul) periods ...
